THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL POSITION: CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR Department of Commerce Office of the Inspector General ATTN: Personnel Office 14th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW H7713 Washington, DC 20230GRADES: GS-5 thru GS-7 BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Criminal Investigators are involved with the planning and conducting of investigations relating to alleged and/or suspected violations of the law, program or property abuse within the Department of Commerce. Criminal Investigators are responsible for conducting audits, inspections, and investigations relating to Department of Commerce programs. These positions require a primary knowledge of investigative techniques and a knowledge of laws and evidence, rules of criminal procedure, precedent court decisions concerning admissibility of evidence and search & seizure related issues. Criminal Investigators may be called upon to do surveillance and/or undercover work. TRAINING: Criminal Investigators will attend a nine week training school at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center at Glynco, Georgia. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a US citizen. Applicants must fall between the ages of 21 and 37 years of age. Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Must pass a background investigation. Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws or investigative experience preferred. |
